Here is a wonderful, simple use of Flash in combination with a sweepstakes that make me laugh. http://www.scratchyourself.com/getCard.php?id=397463238501371f. Don’t scratch too hard as that’s my son you are scratching off! While I’m not a fan of the business model (its too simple as a standalone company), I think its a really fun, cool promotion that if tied to an overall loyalty effort can engage your customer incrementally…go scratch!

Kmart is On To Something!

Wow…I used to run Kmart’s ecommerce business and haven’ kept in touch with the Kmart team in the past few years; I’ve been pretty uniformally underwhelmed by the progress and innovation coming out of the Big K since the Sears combo.

However, The Caregiver’s Marketplace as a loyalty program is truly a great idea!!  Cash back to caregivers; what a smart move for a variety of reasons.  Caregivers are active buyers, the cash back is on high-margin, over the counter branded CPG products, the buzz around the idea is positive-I mean who doesn’t want to support caregivers; these folks are the lifeline to the elderly and infirmed.

Here is an example of a subclub that should be ROI positive almost immediately and should help Kmart capture some of the pharmacy business they have lost to CVS and Walgreen.
